choosing a leader

When Judas committed suicide, the team of Apostles was one man short. So what did they do? They nominated two men…… Barsabbas…. Matthias.’ To decide which one was called to take the place Judas, they used a method known as ‘casting lots.’ It was a METHOD USED IN Biblical times when only a few selected people could hear from God or actually speak with Him personally. As a result Matthias was chosen. You say but I’ve never heard of Matthias, ‘nobody else either! He is not mentioned again in the scriptures. But Barsabbas who didn’t get the vote, is referred to as one of the leaders who steered the church through some difficult times of doctrinal error (Acts 15:22-23) the question that stem this scenario is of great importance to every human effort, either corporate or individual. So here are two lessons from this story 1) You can know God but you can never be able to figure Him out. So stop trying to reduce Him to a formula and say, ‘this is the way He always does it. Casting lots was a system God may have honoured in the past, but the Apostles tried it they didn’t get the result they hoped for. 2) God will speak to you if you are wiling to listen. Just look at this, before leaving them for heaven, Jesus told them (his disciples) that the indwelling Holy Spirit will guide them into all truth Looking back at this story, you can be very sure that even if men didn’t choose you, as long as God hasn’t written you off you will certainly break forth if you keep doing that you know how to do best. Great skill attract opportunities, you can only be connected towards what you can do. Because in life, you don’t beg for opportunity, it is you gift and skill that will make for you
